San Sebastián will have two Irizar ie truck NG units
The City of San Sebastián is acquiring two Irizar ie truck NG units that will be put into use in the city starting on 18 December. The two vehicles, which will be used for waste collection, will cover all the routes in the capital of Gipuzkoa.
The vehicles were presented today at the Irizar facilities in Ormaiztegi, with the presence of the Mayor of San Sebastián Eneko Goia and the Councilperson for Maintenance and Urban Services Carlos García, as well as Imanol Riego, CEO of the Irizar Group, the Director of the Irizar ie truck vehicle Josu Letona and the Irizar ie truck sales manager, Miquel Gutierrez.
These new generation vehicles have Gen3 Irizar batteries with 307 kWh of onboard energy, and an Irizar drive system with a maximum power of 360 kW. It has a side-loading body with a capacity of 21 m3 and useful load of 9200 kg. With those characteristics, both trucks meet the operation and range requirements of the city of San Sebastián.
The Irizar ie truck can drive around cities and urban environments without generating atmospheric or noise pollution, which results in a cleaner city and a more sustainable environment for all the residents of San Sebastián.
Furthermore, like the entire Irizar range of vehicles, safety is an essential factor of this vehicle. The trucks have a single accessible step at a height of 370 mm (the lowest on the market), which guarantees the safety of the driver and passengers. In addition, the low position of the seal and the large wind shield, side windows and door windows create unprecedented ergonomic and visibility conditions for the safety of everybody. Its safety is reinforced even more with several technological elements of the vehicle, like ADAS driving assistance devices.
Design, hallmark of the brand, is a big part of the appeal of this truck that will surely turn heads as it drives through the streets of San Sebastián.
A particular highlight is the special lettering on the back of the lorries with drawings created by children in the competition organised by the Department of Diversity and Equality under the title ‘Discovering our city’, in which nearly 200 students from the schools of Altza, Mendiola, La Asunción, Intxaurrondo Hegoa and Herrera took part.
